DEAR GOD, HE DID NOT DESERVE THAT...

Jh5urcsu1Wang was pitching an absolute blinder, and retired all but 1 on groundouts. A classic pitchers duel with Wang just after getting tapped for a run on a single, woeful attempt to catch him stealing by Jorge, then a single to Melky in left, followed by an offline throw to home. Silly mistakes cost a run and the way things are going today 1 may be enough. No more damage done in the 5th so the bats have to come out now and Wang, fingers crossed, can go deep into the game coz our pen is F**K*D....

Nice by Captain clutch. The wild pitch which moved him to 2nd was a big mistake by O'Connor. Nice effort by A-Rod to get Jeter home to tie the score, but boy does Guillen have a gun or what for an arm. All tied now, everything to play for. This inning will be huge for Chien-Ming Wang.

Oh boy!!!!!! a 6 pitch inning for him, and only 72 pitches going into the 7th. More offence please boys..

Nice start in the 8th, with Melky walking. New pitcher for the Nats in Gary Majewski. Jeter does not look happy at all. Terrible strikeout, looked like me in softball. His hand is still bothering him me thinks. Now Giambi strikes out. Impressive stuff by Majewski. A-Rod in the spotlight now, and a huge RBI double by him, scores Cabrerra and puts the Yankees 2-1 up. Nice one Alex. It's on Wang's shoulders now to complete 6 outs, as neither Mo or Proctor are available today..

Oh Lord help me..... Wang walks Harris, and Jaret Wrong is warming up in the pen.. A good sac bunt by Bird moves Harris to 3rd. With 2 outs Wang walks Soriano. Jose Vidro, hits Wangs 96th pitch deep to left, but Melky makes another spectacular catch to end the inning.

So to the bottom of the 9th and Wang is going for a complete game. Proctor and Myers are warming up, just in case.

Oh good Jaysus... Thats all i can say. I really feel for him. He did not deserve that and anyone who criticises him does not know Baseball. I hope this does not destroy his confidence. Thats tragical... Chien-Ming Wang, You pitched your stones off mate. Hard luck dude.

Wang pitched a great game, what a disappointing end. I find Torre's decision (or lack thereof) very questionable, putting a lot of pressure on the kid. I posted on the subject, too...

Dave,
Tough break for Wang, or should Torre have taken him out earlier?

Wasn't really paying much attention, watching France-S. Korea and trying to set up dual screens on my PC!

I think the fact Wang was pitching so well, made Torres mind up to let him pitch the 9th. Villone was meant to be the closer, but both Myers and Proctor were warming up. Yes Torres decision was questionable but understandable.
You have got to remember another grounder and it may have been a double play and we would have not being questioning Torres management. If anything I blame Cashman for not getting us some decent relief or another starter as Chacon and Wright are not going deep enough in games thus exhausting the pen. Johnson is just Johnson end of story.

It was a tough second loss in two days, but this one is harder to take..
